Marika — Treatment Plan Coordinator
Marika is the Treatment Coordinator for our Periodontal team! Marika joined our team in 2009 and our office hasn’t been the same! Marika always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Marika works closely with our Doctors to ensure your treatment needs are met.
Marika was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. Marika has 4 grown children. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, cooking and all the outdoor activities our beautiful region offers.
Jessica – Treatment Plan Coordinator
Jessica joined our Sound Surgical Arts Perio team in 2016, after 22 years in the orthodontic field. While not at work, she enjoys bowling, camping and her boys’ sporting events. Jessica is married to her high school sweetheart, Jeff and together they have 3 boys, Parker, and twins Austin and Blake.
Deanna – Scheduling Coordinator
I have worked in the general dentistry field for over 20 years before joining Sound Surgical Arts. What I enjoy most is working with patients. I take pleasure in getting to know them and help put them at ease. I have recently moved to the Tacoma area to be with my finance, Christian. Outside of the office nothing makes me happier than spending as much time as possible with my four wonderful children. Over the years, I have enjoyed the many sporting and social activities that my children were in involved in. A true party planner at heart, I enjoy cooking and love hosting many family and friend functions.
Isabel – Scheduling Coordinator
Isabel originally began working for Sound Implant and Periodontics as a part-time employee during her high school years. She enjoyed her time with the practice so much, she took on the full-time position as the scheduling coordinator for Dr. Silvia La Rosa, Dr. Fernando Suarez, and Dr. William Lubken in 2017. Isabel currently resides in Lakewood with her significant other, Dustin. In her spare time, Isabel enjoys reading, traveling, socializing, going to concerts, and collecting anything Marvel-related.
Rylee – Patient Care Coordinator
Rylee is the schedule coordinator for our periodontal team. She joined our office in 2016 and has grown not only as an employee but as an individual. She is able to help schedule all appointments and answer questions a patient may have in regards to their care. She takes pride in the work she does. Rylee will go over and beyond to help our patients in the most efficient way possible. Rylee finds her happy place in spending the time taking care of those around her. She spends most of her time outside of the office with her family enjoying the beauty our state has to offer.
Carolyn — Bookkeeper
Carolyn is a graduate of Central Washington University, and also attended the University of Washington. She has been a bookkeeper in the dental field since 1994. She has been a part of Sound Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Sound Implant & Periodontics since 2007. She has experience with several different dental and accounting software systems. She grew up in Sumner and currently resides in Bonney Lake with her 19 year old daughter and 14 year old son. When she is not working she is either at a soccer, baseball, basketball game or golf match. She enjoys sports, outdoor activities, cooking, and traveling but most important is spending time with family.
Linda —Account Specialist
I have been in General Dentistry for 45 years. I love helping the patients and getting to know them.I retired in
2013 and in 2015 I decided that I missed working with people and came to Sound Surgical Arts in 2016 . I love working for both Drs and there great staff they make everyone feel like family.Outside the office I enjoy my time with my husband Doug my 4 children and 7 grandchildren we love the outdoors and we have property in Northern Idaho that we spend as much time as possible.
Russlyn —Surgical Treatment Coordinator
Russlyn joined our practice earlier this year, with her she brings 30 years of experience twelve of which in oral surgery.

I am Kanaka Mauoli (native Hawaiian) born and raised in Hawai’i nei. I recently moved to Washington state from the east-coast. In my spare time I enjoy traveling with the love of my life Kenny.
Denise — Surgical Assistant
Denise has been a certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery surgical assistant since 1994 and has been working alongside Dr. Manuel La Rosa since 1999. Denise admires Dr. La Rosa’s knowledge, high-quality patient care, willingness to keep up with today’s technology and compassion he brings to Oral Surgery. Denise loves that she gets to work with her identical twin sister Deanna every day. Denise strives daily at putting a nervous patient’s mind at ease and making their experience a pleasant one. Denise was born in San Diego, California and moved to the Northwest at the age of 14. She is married with four step-kids and has six grandchildren. She is happiest when spending time with her family and friends, traveling, enjoys crafting and is passionate about supporting the American Cancer Society through her Relay For Life team.
Laura — Surgical Assistant
Laura is a registered dental assistant who has worked in the periodontal and oral and maxillofacial fields since 2004 and is very excited to be part of our team since 2012. When not in the office she enjoys spending time with her significant other/best friend, Tim, and her teenage sons, Colin and Nate. She is very active with her boys’ activities, sports, music and also, enjoys the outdoors.
Katy — Surgical Assistant
Katy graduated from Clover Park Technical College Dental Assisting Program in 2014 with her Associates and has been working in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery field since 2015. Katy’s favorite part of being in Oral Surgery is making sure that patients get the best care possible while making them feel confident and comfortable with their treatment. Katy loves working at Sound Surgical Arts because she feels that “working here is a tremendous blessing, it’s not just a job, it’s a family!” Katy is happily married with two children and two dogs. When she’s not working, Katy enjoys cheering on her kids at their dance competitions and exploring the beautiful PACNW with her family!
Paxson – Surgical Assistant
Paxson received his Certificate of Dental Assisting from Bates Technical College. He also holds national board certifications on infection control, radiation health and safety, and HIV/AIDS education and awareness. While in school he was active in the Tacoma community, spending volunteer time assisting with dental hygiene at local primary schools. Paxson is very passionate about the field of dentistry, and loves being part of a team that focuses on the complete health of each individual patient. His time at home is spent with his beloved wife and daughter. In his free time Paxson restores vintage bicycles, rides mountain bikes, plays drums, and records music.
Tatiana — Surgical Assistant
Tatiana has been working in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2008. She started working at Sound Surgical Arts in 2014. She takes pride in her patient care and truly enjoys her profession. In her spare time Tatiana is fond of performing arts, music and is an outdoor enthusiast.
Colette — Surgical Assistant
Colette has been in the dental field since 1985. She worked in general dentistry for 10 years then her family moved to Silverdale where she worked for 12 years in an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice followed by 6 years at Madigan Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program. “I love working at Sound Surgical Arts, everyone here is so caring to each other and most importantly to our patients. My favorite part of my job is helping patients understand their treatment and making them feel comfortable along the way”. Colette loves living in Washington and enjoys the outdoors and being with her friends and family.
Lauryn — Surgical Assistant
Lauryn is a certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery assistant who recently entered the dental field. “After interning at this office I knew it was where I wanted to be. Dr. La Rosa is very talented and compassionate in his work and I love the quality of care our team provides. I truly love what I do here and look forward to coming to work everyday! I strive to learn and expand my education in oral surgery. Outside of work, I take pleasure in outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, playing tennis and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I also, enjoy supporting local sports teams including our Seattle Seahawks!”
Deanna — Surgical Assistant
Deanna has worked with Dr. Manuel La Rosa since 1999 and enjoys the family like relationship she has with her boss and co-workers. Her favorite part of the job is building a long-term relationship with her patients. Deanna feels she is blessed to be working in an office that delivers high quality patient care and is privileged to be doing a job she truly enjoys. Deanna has been working for 18 years as a Certified Oral & Maxillofacial surgical assistant. She lives in Bonney Lake with her husband, Kim, and their precious daughter Kaylee. On Deanna’s free time she loves supporting her local Seattle Thunderbirds hockey team, hiking and camping with her family in the great out doors.
Esther — Registered Dental Hygienist
Esther is a valuable asset to our practice as she has over 30 years of experience in dentistry; 20 of those in Dental Hygiene. Her skills include proficiency in Orthodontics, Pedodontics and Periodontics. “Dental Hygiene is a broad profession , where providers are utilized in numerous settings. Being a member of Dr. La Rosa’s team is both a privilege and a pleasure. It is my hope to educate, motivate and improve my patients oral and systemic health”. With her eye on continuing her education, she strives for excellence in all areas of her life. She has a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene. Esther serves her profession in the greater community, and her love of the Pacific Northwest entices her to explore all that life has to offer.
Alice – Registered Dental Hygienist
Alice has been a practicing hygienist for 35 years. In 2008, Alice wanted to expand her professional opportunities and return to school to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University. Consequently, in addition to working in private practice, she is an adjunct clinical instructor at Pierce College in the dental hygiene department. One of the most rewarding aspects of practicing dental hygienefor Alice has been the wonderful relationships she has made with her patients along the way, and she looks forward to the opportunity to meet and forge new relationships in our practice. Outside of work, Alice is actively involved in her professional association, and has been married for 35 years, has 3 great children and a precious, yet precocious, 3 year old grandson who is the apple of her eye. She loves spending time with family and friends.
Stephanie – Surgical Assistant
Stephanie joined our team in September 2019. She graduated from Everest College as a registered dental assistant in February of 2017 but has been working in general dentistry since December 2016 before calling our practice home. She is originally from Georgia, so naturally, a falcons fan (but we won’t hold that against her). During her off time, she enjoys reading, music, movies, sports, and hanging out with her significant other and her two teenage kids. Stephanies number one favorite thing while on the clock is putting a patient at ease with compassion and understanding, as she is also a very anxious patient. ‘I love sound surgical arts because patient care is most important’.
Marissa – Surgical Assistant
Marissa comes to Sound Surgical Arts after 8 years in the medical field. Working with patients and their families has always been a passion of Marissa’s. She is very thankful to have the opportunity to continue working with patients in a fun and caring environment here at SSA. Marissa has worked in many different environments such as the military, back of an ambulance, hospitals, and now at SSA and considers this office her favorite. When she is not here at the office she enjoys spending time with her husband, Thomas, and two little boys Mason and Owen. They keep her very busy being that they are only 17 months apart and so young. Marissa’s family loves camping, spend time with friends and family, and she sees dirt biking in her near future!
Nohora – Project Manager
Nohora joined our team at Sound Surgical Arts in 2017. As a project manager, she is in charge of planning and executing all projects delegated by the doctors and both the periodontal and oral surgery teams, with whom she collaborates closely. Nohora B. loves to spend her free time with her family. She is a big fan of her nephews and nieces and their sports activities; likewise, she enjoys dance and music shows.
